We congratulate Niall Christie (Scotland) on his election to the CEC. Unfortunately no other independents on the site were elected this time around, but in many cases this was expected due to the various impartiality and fairness issues identified.
Despite overwhelming odds, we have all run successful campaigns to be on the ballot in our respective regions, but - we are now facing an even bigger challenge - an STV election against slate candidates with massive publicity through their endorsing MPs.
This election was rigged from the start:
An arbitrary 75 endorsement requirement not adjusted for regional membership count
No way for members to communicate within their region to campaign
Two slates, each backed by a party cofounder with massive social reach
Slate candidates encouraged members to continue to endorse them long after they had reached the 75 required nominations.
Dual membership parties were not allowed to be voted on at conference thus leading to popular members barred from standing.
